Whether you're looking to create some mindful 'you' time, want to build nature into your daily practice or to explore your connection with nature... here you'll find some exercises, or as we call them in Shinrin-Yoku 'Invitations', for you to explore near your home or work.
I love making the support that nature provides us as easily accessible to you as possible so that you can experience for yourself how nature can support you.
On this page you'll find information to help you prepare for your 'invitation' and what to consider when spending time outdoors so that you get the most of your experience. Along with some Invitations for you to enjoy.
I'd love to see and hear how you get on - you can find details below for how you can share about your time.
Have fun exploring nature!
Forest Bathing is the English translation of Shinrin-Yoku which originated in Japan. Where they noticed, and later scientifically proved, that spending time immersed in nature benefits not only our minds but also our general health and wellbeing.
We share Invitations in Forest Bathing to help you explore your time in nature.
There are lots of different Invitations for different types of enquiries. From exploring all of your senses to creating mindful 'you' time. From enquiring into aspects of our lives to deepening our connection with the wisdom we hold within.
During a Forest Bathing session we explore many invitations along the walk.
Preparation is really important when spending time outdoors, so that you can switch off and enjoy your experience of exploring nature.
Print the invitation so you can take it with you on your walk and do read it before you head out so you know what you'll need to take with you. I've shared some tips as well to help you.
Take time to prepare for being outside so that you're comfortable, warm and safe - this will help you to enjoy your time in nature. In the section below you'll find a "Preparation Guide" to support you. Your safety, the safety of others & the protection of the natural world is of the upmost importance.
Protecting the Natural World
In the downloads section you'll also find the Countryside Code (UK), which contains useful information for what to consider when outdoors. Please take the time to read this short guide. For all other country's please check your own government's advice.
Don't over think it!
Try not to place any expectations on your time in nature, be open to allow the time to be whatever it's supposed to be on the day.
Life is challenging in so many ways at the moment and you're doing amazingly at working through it. Set aside anything that may be playing on your mind so that you can enjoy the benefits from being fully present in nature. To support you there is a short meditation to help with "Clearing the Mind" in the downloads above. You can listen to this before you head out or find somewhere to sit at the beginning of your walk. Don't forget you'll need your phone and headphones.
Turn off your phone or put it on airplane mode so you're not disturbed.
Be curious! Have Fun! And see what happens!
I'd love to hear and see how you get on with your time out in nature and the Invitation.
